Germ Alert: I am pretty sure I’m past the point of being contagious, however I will leave you with some hand sanitizer at the end of this post, just to be safe.

Earlier this week, my dear blogging friend Meleah, mentioned she had gotten sick and I responded to her in my comment that I had felt myself on the verge of also getting sick, but thought I had nabbed it from manifesting into a full-blown cold by using my special witch doctor elixir consisting of one bat wing, three frog warts, and a single hair off a black cat.

WRONG!

Then again, in the elixirs defense, I think walking through my chilly apartment NAKED last week to fetch my shower gel in the kitchen, probably didn’t help matters.

Monday afternoon, I could feel myself getting achy and chilly. By nightfall, I was coughing like an old steam engine, my nose was running, and my head felt like it was filled with cotton balls. One minute I was hot, the next minute I was freezing.

I don’t get sick very often, but when I do it’s usually something truly icky, like, Montezuma’s Revenge.

The last time I was sick was over 4 years ago, when I got hit with the most horrendous flu. I was sitting in a sales meeting at work and could actually feel this evil thing slowly descending upon me in a dark cloud; entering through the crown of my head and causing the most hellacious headache. It moved down through every bone and muscle in my body. By the end of the meeting, I could tell this was going to be bad because even my skin and hair hurt. I was flat out on my back for almost a week. I couldn’t even talk to anyone on the phone because the minuscule amount of energy it would have taken me to open my mouth and form words, was just too painful. Blinking even hurt.

But I’m happy to report, this recent cold/flu was not nearly as bad. Fortunately, I’ve had this week off from work, so I was able to stay home and take good care of myself. I’ve been drinking herbal tea, soaking my feet in hot Epsom salt baths, ingesting vitamins, using essential oils, and resting quietly all day.

I don’t know if any of you have ever noticed this, but it’s weird how when you’re sick you will always feel worse at night. Am I right? I found myself dreading the sun going down because I knew I would eventually feel like cockroach who had been crushed by a sledgehammer.

Yesterday, I was at a point of going bonkers since I’ve been slowly getting bored staying inside. I have been so tired of looking at this apartment, I actually rearranged some pictures on the walls so my place would look different.

And just to let you know HOW bored I was, I went out briefly and rented the movie Sex and the City 2, which I had seen in the theater last May and was soooooo disappointed. In spite of this, I thought that by watching it again while being sick, would somehow make me appreciate even a bad film.

Well, it didn’t. Not only was I disappointed again, but I was disappointed and felt SICK about it.

I adored the HBO series, loved the first movie, however the second film was like it wasn’t even written by the same brilliant man who wrote the series. Personally, I think it's time they just allow Sex and the City to be what it is.....a memory of something that was great.

Anyway folks, I’m feeling much better today and plan on resting more this weekend because I’ve got a very busy schedule at work next week with Valentines Day coming up, so I need to be in top-top retail shape.

Aaaaachoooooooo!

Ooops! Sorry for the sneeze, but as I shared at the beginning of this post, allow me to leave you with some hand sanitizer…..

*Please feel free to use as much as you want.

Wishing you a happy and healthy weekend everyone!

  1. I'm so sorry you've been poorly. If I'd known I'd have sent my magic potion to you. It tastes horrible but it's guaranteed to make all germs flee in terror. I never saw Sex in the City - did I miss something good? I'm currently ploughing through all my DVDs chucking out the rubbishy ones before buying more. Carry on carrying on.... and please... DO have a better weekend.

Well--if I had my druthers, I'd pick your sneezy, cotton ball head over himself's upchuck bunny routine.

    Ewwwww.

    Feel better, sir.

  5. Aw, I'm sorry you've been sick Ron. Atleast your sense of humor is still alive and well!! ;)

I have hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE... the house, the car, even got one for Christmas in my stocking. LOL OH and I actually do have one in a jacket pocket AND there's one on my key chain. Yup, slight obsession with germs. My family makes fun of me but I feel like it's an added weapon when out doing battle in flu season. People are sick everywhere. It's cool that you are able to be off this week and rest though.
My granddaughter was sick recently with double ear infections and wheezing. My grandson has been coughing since school started. Those little pre-schoolers just pass everything back and forth with all the playing and touching. My daughter was sick, my son-in-law was also sick and now my hubby is sick. He's a hot mess. He's soooo sick today that he took the day off from work and it makes him crazy to have to do that. But he's hacking up a lung and feels terrible. I'm just waiting for the Doc's office to open so that I can get him a 'script for something... I think he wants some hemlock... but I'm going to try for just an antibiotic or cough medicine.

I never really got into SATC but have a girlfriend and another blogger who adore everything about it. Lately, I've been watching reruns of The Tudors.

Hope you have a relaxing weekend and return to perfect health very soon! xo

"If I'd known I'd have sent my magic potion to you. It tastes horrible but it's guaranteed to make all germs flee in terror."

OMG, one of these days you must share that with me in an email because I'm dying to know what it is. I don't care if it tastes horrible because some of the herbal remedies I take taste HORRENDOUS, but they work.

The Sex in the City HBO series was fabulous (very risque and blunt), but it was brilliantly written. It was very honest, because it brought up real-life topics that many people feel awkward talking about. Personally, I loved it. But people either loved it or found it offensive. It was on for 6 years and then they made a movie 4 year later, which I really enjoyed. Yet, the second movie was a disappointment (for me, anyway).

Yes, that's what I've been doing this week myself, ploughing through my DVD's to entertain myself.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady! I feel much better today and plan on taking care all weekend.

    Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Yes, I was so freakin' bored of looking at these same four walls all week, that I took out a hammer and some nails, and changed things up a bit. I also moved some furniture pieces.

VIOLA! I feel like I'm living in a NEW apartment - HA!

You sound like me. You don't get sick often, but when 'I' do, it's usually something MAJOR icky!

Thanks for your well wishing, girl! And thanks for stopping by!

    Have a super weekend!

Yeah, I would too because I can handle any sickness unless it has something to do with my stomach.

Just shoot me and put me out of my misery - HA!

Thanks for stopping by, dear lady! And thanks for you well wishes!

  10. Hi again Mel!

So glad you enjoyed Frank! That is truly one of my favorite songs of his. We used it in a play I was in many years ago as a love theme between my character and the character I was involved with.

She and I danced to this song at the end of Act 1. We had soooooooo much fun!

  12. Goooood Morning Crystal Chick~

    Thank you.

I wrote this post late yesterday afternoon after I had a cup of coffee because it gave me a boost of energy to actually sit down and type something between my coughing fits - HA!

I've been taking Echinacea and Goldenseal, and that really helps to clear up the lungs. But, it also causes you to cough, as it expels all the nasty stuff. I've also been doing a lot of Reiki and Reflexology.

" OH and I actually do have one in a jacket pocket AND there's one on my key chain. Yup, slight obsession with germs."

Hey listen, I don't blame you at all. We have hand sanitizer positioned at every cash register in our store so we can wipe our hands with it throughout the day.

OMG, so you hubby is sick too? Sounds like what I may have had. Luckily, I have no fever anymore and my coughing is slowly subsiding. I think it's good that he took off from work for the day, because at least he'll have a long weekend to heal.

Yes, people either seem to really get into SATC or not, so I understand completely. This last movie, to me, was just the pits. No story, all fluff.

I work with a woman who LOVES Tudors and has raved about it several times. I wonder if I can get it on DVD because I don't have cable? I'll look for it in the video store.

Much thanks for stopping by and for your well wishes, my friend!

Have a FAB weekend and give my well wishes to hubby!

OMG, isn' that the truth! I'm so sick of being in this apartment, I could POOP! Later, today I will venture out all bundled up and do a little walking. I may just stop by Starbucks for a cup of coffee and then rent another movie. But NOT Sex in the City!!! HA!

Yes, several people I work with have been sick this winter and they said the same thing, if your not careful it creeps back - YIKES! That's why I plan on taking it easy this weekend because I need to be better by Monday.

  20. Hey there, pardner,
Now, you told me that you had caught a cold. I am sorry to hear that you have been nursing it all week.
Of course, running buck naked throught the aprtment brought all the germs running out of the woodwork!!
I hope that get get better soon!!

I had an episode in November where I got a cold really quickly. So, I can relate. Its when we are ill a few days or weeks and then improve, we appreciate the simple pleasures such as walking, breathing or just feeling good.

Yes; I promise to use tons of hand sanitizer.

Thank you so much, because I honestly feel like I look like a big, ugly COCKROACH! And usually you can always tell if someone is sick by their eyes. I've been doing a lot energy work to help speed up the healing, so maybe it's working.

" Wish I was there so I could make you some chicken soup. . . Wait....that might make you sicker."

No! No! I adore chicken soup when I'm sick. In fact I bought several cans of Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup (low sodium), so I've been gobbling it up. It feels good on a sore throat.

Thanks oodles for stopping by, dear friend. Your comment really made me smile!

"Of course, running buck naked throught the apartment brought all the germs running out of the woodwork!!"

Yup! It serves me right, right? Running naked through a cold apartment! I should know better living in a city how the woodwork is a magnet for FUZZY GERMS. Even though I try to remove it on a weekly basis, it comes back so dang fast!

"Its when we are ill a few days or weeks and then improve, we appreciate the simple pleasures such as walking, breathing or just feeling good."

You said it! Good health should never be taking lightly. And sometimes I need to be reminded of that. You never how good you always FELT, until you get sick.

"Yes; I promise to use tons of hand sanitizer.

Will that get the Aaaaachoooooooo! off of my monitor, and my question also is, are you sure that was really a black cat hair?--just saying.

I just want to say that not too many people could even spell that word, let alone know what it means. You MUST be feeling better, as you rocked out the vocabulary there my friend.

Anyhoo, I am glad you are feeling better. I always have bottles of Tea tree oil & eucalyptus handy for colds that go around at our house. A little lavender helps to lift flagging spirits too. I think I will avoid the hand sanitizer (you Americans are obsessed with it I noticed when I went on my tour a few years back), but will go wash my hands now.

Well, I'm not sure if it will get the Aaaaachooooo off your monitor because it may ruin the finish, however I think it would work on your keyboard. And yes, it definitely must be a hair from a black cat, because any other color hair will cause the elixir to work in reverse. DANGER! DANGER!

    HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yup, I'm feeling a little bit better everyday. Last night I went to bed a 10 o'clock! OMG, I haven't been to bed at 10 since I was 10 years old.

"I always have bottles of Tea tree oil & eucalyptus handy for colds that go around at our house. A little lavender helps to lift flagging spirits too."

Me too! Me too! In fact, I've been using tea tree oil and eucalyptus a lot lately. Lavender I'm out of, but I LOOOOOOOOOVE the smell of it.

"I think I will avoid the hand sanitizer (you Americans are obsessed with it I noticed when I went on my tour a few years back)"

Yes, we Americans ARE obesessed with it, I totally agree. There comes a point where it begins to kill off all the good bacteria that prevents sickness. In fact, yesterday afternoon a guy standing in front of me at the post office used his hand sanitizer TWICE in 5 minutes - HA!

I had a touch of the flu over Christmas week last year, and you're right, nighttime was the worst. I have no idea why that is!

Hope you feel better soon. And quit walking around your apartment naked!! (Unless you're with company who also happens to be naked - in that case, have at it, tiger).

As you're lawyer I strongly suggest you pick up a nice merlot or two, shut the door, turn off the phone, throw in a movie, pop a cold medication of your choice and down it with wine. Don't worry about the warning on the medication box that says "do not consume with alcohol". That's merely a serving suggestion and not to be taken seriously. ;-)

In all seriousness, get better my man!

i refused to even see it. Honestly, i really didn't care much for the first movie either. after the tv show, it was all a let down. either they had been out of the saddle too long, or different writers or something. i didn't feel any chemistry. and i thought the story lines were a bit predictable.

of course, that is every single romcom on the planet.
