Okay peeps, here it goes….the finale of All Creatures Great and Small!

Once again, allow me to thank you for all the AWESOME animal photo submissions.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Now before I share your photos, I have a quick story to tell you.

For the past week, I’ve been wondering what photo I was going to use for the opening of this post. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use a picture off the Internet, or a photo of my own.

Well…

…two days ago, I was sitting in my favorite park sipping a tall Starbucks coffee and eating a granola bar, when all of a sudden I looked down at my feet and saw a squirrel just staring at me. As most of you already know, I ADORE squirrels. In fact, I adore them so much that I would love to pick them off the ground, and kiss and hug them.

However, I haven’t ever tried that yet because I don’t fancy having my eyes scratched out and my lips bitten off, and then rushing myself to Jefferson Memorial Hospital; trying to explain to the ER nurse that I got this way from KISSING a squirrel.

I think the thing I most LOVE about squirrels (beside the fact that they’re so damn cute), is that they have no problem asking for what they want. The squirrels here in the city are very people-friendly and have no fear. They will hop and scurry right up to you, stand on their hind legs and telepathically say, “Oh, please, please….do you have any nuts, cookies, crackers, fruit, or chicken dinner leftovers? I’ll take anything, ANYTHING!”

So, what do you think I did because I just couldn't resist?

Yup….I shared my granola bar with the squirrel you see in the photo.

And as gratitude, he came up close and allowed me to take his picture.

God love him!

Anyway folks, permit me to share the remainder of your photos with great pride and pleasure.

Lights! Camera! Animals!

I leave you now with a short video clip I found on You Tube, entitled, Gordito’s 5th Birthday. The expression on this dogs face is priceless!

Have a picture perfect weekend!

  2. Wonderful pictures, Ron, loved every one. Naptime Compromise made me laugh, it has that aaaw factor.

The video is great, that guy knew how to win the dog round.

Oooh how I wish I could befriend the squirrels in my garden. I do like them, honestly, but they not only pinch the birds food but they're quite destructive. I can't count how many bird feeders they've ruined, plus chewing the wooden bird table.

I'm a sucker for all animals. Take a look at this one. http://girlinmontana.blogspot.co.uk

    Happy Easter.

Whoops didn't expect captchas. I've tried four so far. Trying again now.

  3. All precious and wonderful, Ron......I could most certainly love on those two beagles sharing a sundae! And I think squirrels are pretty darned cute too.

  4. Love all the photos again! So great. Ah, and my lovely little horsey is there too. Have a great weekend. We're off to CA to see family. Thinking I'll take some photos.

  5. Thanks for posting my babies, Ron! These are all so fabulous. When you said you wanted to kiss the squirrel, it reminded me of that scene from Elf where he meets the raccoon and says, "Does someone want a hug?" and it attacks him.

    Have a great weekend! Kisses~

  6. every single one of these photos is spectacular. I'll have to visit the bloggers individually to share my admiration :) And I share your love for squirrels too Ron. They are a big part of our backyard wildlife. In fact I need to drop by the market this afternoon on the way home from work to pick up about 10 pounds of peanuts. The squirrels and blue jays plow through the peanuts awfully quickly. And they scold us when the feeders are empty! This 2-part photo feature was really wonderful and I'm so disappointed in myself that I didn't email you a picture - for shame! However I'm truly enjoying the images, thanks to you and your wonderful blog companions. Sending love and prayers.xoxo--diane

  8. How adorable is Chorizo using Poe for a Pillow? Actually they are all adorable. Alas, in a 497 square foot condo and a husband deathly allergic to animals, I will just have to admire pets from afar.

  9. ...lol...Love the video and the dog's face - priceless! :o)

...I too love squirrels. We have lots o' 'em around here and sadly our big cat, Gabe, likes 'em too once in awhile. Squirrels are bad ass if you ever try and catch one but our big cat takes 'em down and then eats them - head first. *shudders*

...Wow - such great photos everyone! I laughed out loud at your photo of the squirrel and then the one of 'Jeffie' at agility class. Too cute. And then Jen with 'Gem' - beautiful. Of course Jen is stunning all on her own but put her on one of her horses and it's just beauty ten fold! :o)

...Such a great idea Ron - I truly enjoyed this! Thank you for letting me take part too.

...Wishing you a joyous Easter my friend!

    ...(((you)))

    ...Blessings :o)

  10. Awwww, the photos were all so wonderful! Thanks for sharing them.

We had a couple squirrels around here that were very friendly. I got a couple pictures of the one that came right up on our front step looking for a handout. They can be destructive if they get IN the house though... speaking from experience. LOL

    Have a great weekend. :) x

  11. Boy, Ron, if that squirrel got any closer to you, he'd be in your pocket. Amazing--you're like St. Francis of Philly! Great photos once again, everybody, and thanks, Ron, for sharing them with the rest of us. Have a great weekend, buddy and keep on feeding the animals!

" How cool is that ... the squirrel just showed up to share your granola bar!! Then...he just posed! Awesome!"

Isn't he a cutie???? I got several shot of him, one of which he's actually sitting ON the park bench with me about 2 inches from my knee. Unfortunately, it came out a bit blurry because he was moving so fast.

Thanks oodles for stopping by, Jeanne. And thanks again for your photo submission last week!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend, dear lady! Hope you're tooth is feeling better!

  15. Good morning Valerie~

Aren't these photo wonderful??? I was so proud and happy to share them ALL! And thank YOU for yours!

I found that video a few days ago on You Tube and laughed so hard at the dogs expression. He actually looks as though he's SMILING!

"I do like them, honestly, but they not only pinch the birds food but they're quite destructive. I can't count how many bird feeders they've ruined, plus chewing the wooden bird table."

Yes, I can totally understand your feelings because squirrels CAN be quite destructive AND pinchy with the birds food. They can be very aggressive. But, OMG....they're so dang CUTE.

Thank you soooooooooo much for sharing that link with me!! I quickly stopped by to see the blog, but will stop back later this weekend to check it out more thoroughly. What AMAZING photos!!!!

Happy Easter, dear lady! And thanks so much for stopping by!

Bwhahahhahahahaaha! Oh, how FUNNY! I've not seen that movie, but will rent it. And it's ironic you mentioned raccoons, because I ADORE them too!

My dear friend, Peg, just recently got Chorizo this past year and has shared several photos of him on her blog. Isn't he ADORABLE?

"Alas, in a 497 square foot condo and a husband deathly allergic to animals, I will just have to admire pets from afar."

I understand because I ADORE cats and have always had them as pets, but in the last year of my cats lives I suddenly developed an allergy to their dander :(

Thanks so much for stopping by, Bill. Wishing you and your husband a wonderful weekend!

Yes, I know how cats can be with squirrels. It's so sad, but I guess that's nature, ya know? In fact, I've seen more than a few squirrels attack and kill the little sparrows when they try to take their food away from them :(

Aren't all the photo GREAT???? And I can't thank you enough for sharing YOURS. What a beautiful kitty! I love black cats.

Thanks oodles for stopping by, dear lady. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Yes, they can! Squirrels can be VERY aggressive and destructive at times. It amazes me how they have no fear. Oh, except when a dog is chasing them and the RUN up a tree - HA!

  26. Oh Ron, that squirrel is adorable! I can SO see why you want to pet him. He’s so fuzzy looking with such a sweet little face…and I LOVE LOVE his bushy tail! If I didn’t feel so strongly about wild animals living with Mother Nature, I’d have bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks and raccoons living in my house!

Again, the photo exhibit is awesome! All of the pictures are fantastic!

Jen’s horse is stunning! I LOVE horses and hope to have one of my own someday.

Crissy’s dogs eating that sundae is just adorable!

And that video is TOO funny. I’ve always wanted a Bulldog! They can skateboard! But that little guy waiting for the candle to be blown out was too darn cute!

Thanks again for another fantastic post AND for displaying my picture (Naptime Compromise). It’s hard to believe my son was only 5 years old then! And our Hayley not even 1! She’s gone now and I STILL miss her. She was the BEST dog!

    ((You)) And a Happy Easter!!

I cannot thank you enough for telling me that, but I checked my dashboard THREE times to see if there was a CAPTCHA feature, and there isn't. I have no idea how that even got there?!?

Don't ya just LOVE the video? And it's funny because the day I took that photo of the squirrel, I saw a man walking his bulldog. And the most hysterical thing about it was that they LOOKED a like - HA!

Oh, these pictures are priceless! I love your squirrel - what a great shot! He'd clearly heard of your blog and wanted IN. Pushy little guys, these squirrels, ya know!

They're all gorgeous .. let's see ... 'nap-time compromise' is just so sweet, and all their little furry faces make me go 'awwwwww!', but for some reason it's the horse picture for me. I LOVE horses, and ride when I can (which isn't often these days, sadly) and it just speaks of peace, concentration (to the exclusion of day-to-day worries) and contentment. The horse and rider are so well turned out and to me it's just beautiful.

  46. Hey there Jay~

"Pushy little guys, these squirrels, ya know!"

HA! You said it! Yet, I love to watch them with the pigeons though, because for some reason the squirrels are afraid of the them. They will always allow the pigeons to take their food.

When Princess Diana died, Mo and I went up to London, amidst the sea of flowers, to lay a rose. While we were there we went to Hyde Park, where the squirrels were so tame they climbed onto you and tried to get inside your bag for food. They were so cute! Sadly I didn't get a single photo of them, though I got plenty of everything else.
