Back in November while I was in Florida, a friend of my family invited me over to her condo one evening for a glass of wine and some conversation. And before she went to the store that afternoon to pick up a few bottles, I suggested that she look for a particular brand of wine that I normally drink because it was awesome and wanted her to try it. However, they didn’t have the brand I suggested there, so she tried a brand that one of the employees in the store highly recommended.

Personally I enjoy trying different wines and brands, so when she offered me a glass of Apothic, I didn’t hesitate.

Well, after I took my first sip….I thought I had died and gone to HEAVEN.

Have you ever drank a wine that smelled and tasted so incredible that you felt as though you were having an “out of body” experience?

I’m serious, I sat there with my eyes closed after taking my first sip, and could have sworn I heard someone beckoning, “COME TO THE LIGHT, RON….COME TO THE LIGHT!”

Yes, it's THAT good.

What I love so much about Apothic Red is that it’s full-bodied, yet smooooth as satin. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a red wine that had that much flavor without it being too sweet. I prefer wine slightly on the drier side. This red wine contains the perfect balance of four different grapes. You can drink it alone, or pair it with food.

Apothic Red

The brambly spice of Zinfandel, dark fruit flavors of Syrah, the bold notes of Cabernet Sauvignon and the smooth elegance of Merlot unite to create this captivating red blend.

Apothic Red reveals intense fruit aromas and flavors of rhubarb and black cherry, complemented by hints of mocha, chocolate, brown spice and vanilla. The plush, velvety mouthfeel and the smooth finish round out this intriguing, full-bodied red blend.

--------------

Now because I don’t drink white wine, I honestly can’t give you first-hand feedback on Apothic White. However, someone I know very well has tried it and said that it was BEYOND fabulous.

Apothic White

This latest release brings tropical aromas and flavors together with hints of spice, creating an enchanting white blend.

Apothic White is an approachable blend that combines Chardonnay, Riesling and Moscato to create a luscious, vibrant wine in the bold style of Apothic. Intense flavors of peach, pineapple, honey and vanilla spice make this smooth white blend unforgettable.

Average price: $11.00 - red or white

So if you’re like me and enjoy trying different wines, you’ve got to try Apothic.

You will LOVE it. I swear.

Cheers!

*please drink responsibly

  1. I don't drink red wine. I'm one of those that gets a headache from drinking the red, but I do love white. We have Californian here in the UK although I haven't come across Apothic. Perhaps I don't patronise the right places. I will look for it in the wine shop. Hey, maybe a trip to heaven would do me good *grins*

  2. I LOVE this review because I'm always looking to try new wines! Do you ever go to wine tastings? That is one of my favorite activities. It's fun to see if your palate can pick up the notes of flavors mentioned. And it's taught me what to stay away from. I steer clear of wines that mention tobacco in their description.....they truly do taste awful to me and you'd be surprised how many include tobacco in their description.

I've seen Apothic, but I've never tried it, so thank you for the recommendation. I'm buying some for sure now! Lately, I've been drinking 14 Hands Hot to Trot Red Blend.

  3. Wow........there's a rave review! While I (obviously) don't indulge today, he-who-likes-a-good-wine will probably appreciate the recommendation. He's rather put off by the 'too sweet' wine that seems to be prominent right now.
    I'll let him know.
*laughing* And I'll advise him that he'll feel like he's having an out of body experience. He's of that age when a warning would be a good thing. JUST so he knows it's only a test! ROFL

  5. Ron, a wonderful review! Wow, I can tell you really love this wine. I drink both red and white at different times of the year and with different foods. I love wine!

I think I've seen this brand at ABC but have never tried it. Thanks for your recommendation because I'm always open to experimenting with something new.

    Have wonderful day, Ron.

  6. Good morning Valerie~

"I don't drink red wine. I'm one of those that gets a headache from drinking the red, but I do love white."

Yes, I've heard a lot of people say the same thing. Oddly enough, white gives me a headache, isn't that weird? In fact, I stopped drinking wine all together YEARS and YEARS ago because I just didn't think I could drink wine, until I tried red about 5 years ago.

"We have Californian here in the UK although I haven't come across Apothic."

Great, I'm glad to hear that because I wasn't sure if my blogging friends in Europe could find this wine there. The next time you're in a wine shop, see if they carry it because it is truly awesome.

" Hey, maybe a trip to heaven would do me good *grins*"

Thanks for stopping by, dear lady. Enjoy your day!

Me too, I'm always looking to try new wines!

" Do you ever go to wine tastings? That is one of my favorite activities. It's fun to see if your palate can pick up the notes of flavors mentioned."

No, can you believe that I have never been to a wine tasting?!? But I know you have from posts you've shared on your blog. I've got to try that sometime because I have a feeling I would love it.

" I steer clear of wines that mention tobacco in their description.....they truly do taste awful to me and you'd be surprised how many include tobacco in their description."

Interesting, because I don't think I've ever seen tabacco listed in wine flavorings. WOW, I can't even imagine what that must taste like!?!? Like eating a cigar - HA!

"I've seen Apothic, but I've never tried it, so thank you for the recommendation. I'm buying some for sure now!"

Everyone I've recommended this wine to has come back and said they loved it.

"Lately, I've been drinking 14 Hands Hot to Trot Red Blend."

I will look for that. Thanks for your recommendation :)

I'm not a sweet wine drinker myself. I like a bit of 'bite' to my wine, but not too-too much. It's kinda like I like my coffee....BOLD, but smooth.

" Wow, I can tell you really love this wine."

    Yes, I do. I truly LOVE it! It's FAB-U-LOUS!

I can't drink white wine because it gives me a headache and kinda flips me out. I can have just a few sips of white and the room starts spinning!

"I think I've seen this brand at ABC but have never tried it."

Yes, they carry it in ABC, but they also have it in Target, which is where she found it. I wish we could buy wine in Target and the grocery stores like in Florida. Here, you can only purchase wine in a wine and spirit store, but they're trying to change that.

Thanks for stopping by, girl. Enjoy your day!

  11. Ron, just the ad alone makes me want to try this wine. That is the coolest ad, Hauntingly Distinctive!

And judging from this review and your out of body experience, I've got to try it. I only drink red as well. One of my favorite brands is Cupcake. And it's priced about the same as Apothic.

    Thanks for your recommendation, Ron!

  12. Hey Matt~

Yes, isn't the ad the COOLEST? So GOTH!!!

And the wine itself is just as awesome as the ad, so if you ever feel like trying it, I think you will love it.

"One of my favorite brands is Cupcake. And it's priced about the same as Apothic."

Yup...I've seen that brand in the Wine and Spirit store where I shop. I fact, it's sitting on the same shelf with the Apothic. Gotta try it!

Thanks for stopping by, bud. Have a terrific Wednesday!

  13. I'm afraid my wine drinking days are well and truly over. I haven't been able to drink alcohol for many years now. For some strange reason, It no longer agrees with me. With just a few sips I have pains in my back, tummy and down my legs. I have no idea why, but it's too unpleasant to continue drinking.

In my day, I did drink red wine. I even made my own wines and some of those were unbelievably good! In particular a wine made out of rose petals, that we plucked from the garden.

Now I make do with tea and coffee :)

I don't blame you at all. I actually stopped drinking wine back in the late 80's because I only drank white wine, but it began to really bother me. Then, about 5 years ago, someone suggested that I try red wine instead of white. So I did and it no longer bothered me. Isn't that weird?

"In my day, I did drink red wine. I even made my own wines and some of those were unbelievably good! In particular a wine made out of rose petals, that we plucked from the garden."

OMG...that sounded HEAVENLY! Lisa (the girl in the Swine Lake video), her husband also makes his own wine.

"Now I make do with tea and coffee :)"

You GO, girl! I love me some tea and coffee as well.

Much thanks for stopping by, Babs!

Oh, how FUNNY! You're part Italian as well as Irish??? GREAT combination because both are PASSIONATE nationalities!

"But you've made this sound delicious. Anything that's got vanilla, chocolate, and grapes in its flavoring sounds wonderfully decadent!"

It's truly one of the BEST wines I've ever had - YUM-MY!

Always FAB seeing ya, Debbie! Much thanks for stopping by!

  16. Ron, the three different grapes that go into the red sound like a perfect blend! I'm not crazy about Zinfandel, but the other three most likely give it a boost. I too like a drier wine, whether it be red or white. If I drink red, I like a Cab or Merlot. If I drink white, a dry Chardonnay.

Outstanding review, Ron. I will look for this brand because I could use an out of body experience right now!

  17. Hey ho Robert!

" I'm not crazy about Zinfandel, but the other three most likely give it a boost."

Me neither, Zinfandel is not one of my favorites, but the other three give the wine a nice full-body. And such an AWESOME flavor.

"I will look for this brand because I could use an out of body experience right now!"

  18. I shall be adding this to my BevMo shopping list for this weekend!

I totally get what you're saying. The most memorable glass of wine I ever had was a 1989 Kenwood "Artist Series" Merlot. MmmMmmm! Now, if only I had an extra $100 to spend on a bottle, I'd pick up another. Shame it's so expensive now...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, that good, huh? I can't wait to try it! Not sure where they sell it over here in NJ but will look. I enjoy both red and white so either variety would be fine by me. My fav red lately has been Jersey Devil Port. Strong, more to have a little bit with a piece of good chocolate rather than for a night of drinking. lol My fav white is Gewürztraminer, but I like Reisling and Moscato, too. Generally I don't like Chardonnay at all, but in a blend like the Apothic, I think I would really like the whole combination of flavors.
Thanks for the review and suggestion. I'll keep it in mind next time I'm out getting a bottle or two.

  20. Hey there Herman!

You will LOVE it, I guarantee. And for the price, the wine tastes like it should be MUCH higher. Even my brother, who is in the restaurant business, says it's AWESOME.

  21. Helloooooo Mary!

    "Wow, that good, huh?"

    Yup...THAT good!

" I can't wait to try it! Not sure where they sell it over here in NJ but will look."

I'm pretty sure they do because if they have it here and Florida, I KNOW they must have it in Jersey.

" My fav red lately has been Jersey Devil Port. Strong, more to have a little bit with a piece of good chocolate rather than for a night of drinking."

YUM- MY sounds delicious! I don't mind a strong wine, I just don't like if it's bitter.

"My fav white is Gewürztraminer, but I like Reisling and Moscato,"

I had a friend in Florida who LOVED German Reisling!

"Generally I don't like Chardonnay at all, but in a blend like the Apothic, I think I would really like the whole combination of flavors."

That's the thing with this wine, it's the combination of the various grapes that go into creating it that really make this wine outstanding. I read a review of Apothic on Wine Enthusiast and they gave it a RAVE review.

And for the price, you can't beat it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Mary! Hope you had a super day!

I'm always on the lookout for some premium vino so this post is most appreciated. I know you don't drink white, but I'm a huge fan of Proseco and I drink it--responsibily, of course--whenever I get the chance.
