I LOVE food! "Amo il cibo"

Yes, I truly do.

And the older I get, the more I enjoy food and LOVE to eat. I'm one of those people who thinks and talks about food 50% of my day. And the other 50% is spent eating it.

Yet, as I've shared with you in previous posts, I'm not someone who gets off on cooking.

I get off on EATING.

And that's strange because the majority of people who love food the way I do, also love the process of preparing it.

I don't.

I simply enjoy throwing my food together as quickly as I can, and then eating it as slowing as I can while achieving a foodie-orgasm.

And being Italian, I think that is so peculiar because all I recall as I was growing up in my family was that everyone was always in the kitchen, cooking something and screaming at each other. Both my mother and father (especially my father) had such a passion for food and were outstanding cooks. Even my younger brother grew up to become a professional chef.

And me?

I grew up to merely become a professional eater.

As far as I'm concerned, the most glorious thing about eating food is savoring the smell and the taste.

For instance, tonight I threw together spaghetti pasta with olive oil, pesto, shaved Romano/Asiago cheese, and freshly sliced Roma tomatoes. I also made a small side salad.

And it was pure heaven...

Below are a few of my favorite foods and where I shop for them...

Living in a Center City, Philadelphia, I only shop at two places --Trader Joe's and Mom's Market (both within walking distance). I purchase certain foods from each marketplace. And I shop very much like a European. I shop 2-3 times a week; purchasing small, fresh amounts.

Okay, so....

Pasta...

...and MORE pasta...

Garlic bread (and garlic in general)...

Chinese vegetarian food (spring rolls, vegetable fried rice, sesame noodles, etc)...

Cheese...cheese...and MORE cheese...
(especially with crackers, fruit, and a nice glass of red wine)

Salads. I adore salads. And I eat one (with fresh avocado) almost every single day...

Grilled cheese sandwiches...
(paired with a nice hot bowl of tomato soup)
...can you tell that I love cheese?...

Pizza...
(and my very favorite is a simple thin crust Margherita pizza topped with a hefty amount of basil)
...paired with a nice glass of red wine...

I used to crave sweets. However, over the past eight years I have gradually lost my sweet-tooth.
Yet, there are two sweets that I will eat a few times a year.
Pumpkin pie...

...and chocolate. But only DARK chocolate...

So there you have it, folks. A few of my favorite foods in Bitmoji style...

Have a scrumptious weekend, y'all
X

Oh, and P.S...over the past few days, I imported my Personal Shopper blog over to Wordpress. I did it for a few different reasons. I used to blog on WP back in 2006. That blog is still there, I just don't post on it anymore. However, I leave it up for anyone doing research on natural health. Things like: Essential Oils, Meditation, Reiki, and Reflexology.

For those of you who use Wordpress, I'm sure you'll understand when I say how completely different it is from Blogger. There are a lot of great things about Wordpress, but it's taking me awhile to get used to how everything works because so many things have changed since I used that platform. It feels like I'm learning a new language. One of the things I really like about this move is that I was able to obtain the domain name I originally wanted, but was unavailable on Blogger.

If you would care to take a peek at the new site, just click on the picture below and it will take you there. I love the template!

  1. I read about food and promptly feel hungry. Oh I wish I still had enough energy to prepare something Italian, like I used to. These days I rely on others to do it for me. I shall now forget food and indulge in wishful thinking on the beauty front.

Hope you have much success and plenty of Italian food. Grrr!

  2. Fun post! The emojis are a nice addition. I like how you pair most food items with a glass of red wine. I'm also a foodie, though less so than in the past. After all, I'm the guy who celebrated every single food holiday in 2013 and blogged about it. BTW, given your love of cheese, I am still perplexed why you don't love a good Philly cheesesteak.

I'm a huge fan of WordPress and would probably feel similarly if I switched platforms to Blogger. I'm just so used to this now it's second nature.

Enjoy the rest of your week and all the cuisine that will accompany it!

  3. Glad you enjoyed, Candice! I had sooooooooooooooo much fun making those emojis. I have that app on my phone and use it often when sending a text.

Yes! Hands down, Italian food is the BEST! Don't ya' just LOVE pasta? I eat it a few times a week. And when I do...I eat a TON, because once I start, I can't stop.

Thank you for taking a look at my new blog platform. Glad you liked it. It took me several days to adjust everything, but I really like how it turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend! Have a grrrrrrrrreat day!

  4. I love Bitmojis! These are fantastic! I do love to cook AND eat! And, as you know, I love most everything Italian. I haven't found anything that doesn't go with red wine. :-) I've been on Wordpress since about 2008 or so. I love the platform. When I go to comment on Blogger sites, many times I run into posting problems. I was just wondering about your personal shopper business the other day. It's been a while since I've been to your site, so I'll skip on over there now. X

  5. Me too, Lisa! They are so much fun because you can send them in texts, emails, and also download them to post on your blog!

"And, as you know, I love most everything Italian. I haven't found anything that doesn't go with red wine. :-)"

HA! I agree! Everything goes with red wine; especially Italian food.

"I've been on Wordpress since about 2008 or so. I love the platform. When I go to comment on Blogger sites, many times I run into posting problems."

Yes, and that's why I don't use Bloggers commenting system. I use Disqus. Every once in a while there will be a glitch. But most of the time it works very well. I read quite a few blogs that use it too.

I decided to import my personal shopper blog over to WP for several different reasons. It's been a challenge to get used to it again, but I LOVE a challenge LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a grrrrrrrreat rest of your week!

  6. .."everyone was always in the kitchen, cooking something and screaming at each other." Both my husband and I both laughed at that because it's so true! I'm half Italian and my husband is 100%, so we understand what you mean about loving food and loving to eat!

Ron, these emojis are ADORABLE! I love the one that says, Lettuce pray. LOL!!

And I checked out your new WP blog and thought is looked so good. Nice job, Ron! And I hope all is going well with your business.

    Have a great weekend xo

Can you believe how warm it is? I'm praying that we don't get summer weather before we've even had spring.

  7. Thanks, Elaine :) I had so much fun making these emojis. I love that app!!!

"Both my husband and I laughed at that because it's so true! I'm half Italian and my husband is 100%, so we understand what you mean about loving food and loving to eat!"

Isn't it something how FOOD and being ITALIAN go hand-in-hand? Mangia!

And thanks for your feedback on my new Wordpress blog. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I keep tweaking though, exploring more and more options.

OMG....yes! To me, it already DOES feel like summer. This past winter was a complete bust because we had no winter. I know that most of the world is happy about that, but not me.

Have a faaaaaaaaabulous weekend, my friend! And thanks for stopping by!

  8. Ron, isn't the combo of a grilled cheese sandwiches with a bowl of tomato soup the bomb? My favorite thing to do is dip the sandwich into the soup and eat them together. YUM! I'm not Italian but I eat like one. And one of my favorite foods IS Italian. I love going to Olive Garden and ordering the soup, salad, and garlic breadsticks. I could feast on them for hours!

  9. Yes, Daniel...the best thing is dipping the sandwich into the soup. It's HEAVENLY!

"And one of my favorite foods IS Italian. I love going to Olive Garden and ordering the soup, salad, and garlic breadsticks. I could feast on them for hours!"

To DIE for!!!! And I'm so bummed because they closed all the Olive Gardens in Center City, Philadelphia. I LOVED the pasta fagioli soup they severed. It was so hearty and delicious!

Thanks so much for stopping by, bud. Have a super weekend!

  10. I'm sort of with you on not being super into cooking. I enjoy finding new recipes on Pinterest and trying them out, but the actual process of dicing, slicing, peeling, etc. is quite tedious to me. And I also feel like I spend a lot of time in my head planning what I'm going to eat next. HA! It's a miracle we're both skinny peeps! I also love all the foods you mentioned . . . dark chocolate, pumpkin pie, red wine, cheese, tomato soup, pasta, salad w/avocado, and spring rolls. But I do love things you don't like, such as fresh fish!
You introduced me to Bitmoji and I use it all the time, usually to send sarcastic messages to my husband and kids. There are some really funny ones out there! I hope you have a great weekend and I will have to take a look at your other blog again. XO

  11. You too? At least I know I'm not alone.

OMG....YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel the EXACT same way! I find the prep tedious. And like you, I think A LOT about what I'm going to eat next LOL!

I know, people are amazed by how much I eat and how little weight I gain. I'm grateful for that though.

Yeah, fish (and meat) are two things I don't eat. And that's funny because my entire family LOVES seafood and all kinds of meat.

I have so much fun with Bitmoji. Like you, I send a lot in emails and texts. What FUN, hu?

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. I can't WAIT to read and see all about your trip to Florida!!!! I bet you were in heaven, with all that sunshine, palm trees, and warm weather.

    Have a super weekend!

    XO

  12. Wow Ron, you don't have an Olive Garden in all of Philly? I wonder why, being such a foodie city?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I know, can you freakin' believe that?!? And we ONLY had ONE at that time. They closed it about 2-3 years ago. And the space is still empty. Philadelphia is weird that way, they open and close places so fast; especially restaurants.

  14. Oh, God, Ron, you're killing me! After reading this post, I want to run down to Little Italy and eat my way up to the Bronx!

I just want on Mexican food binge on Friday and, being Catholic, of course, I am now deeply ashamed of myself. I can't wait till this week when I can go forth and sin some more!

I'm half Italian so I know all about the craziness of Italian kitchens, especially during the holidays!

Great post, buddy, thanks for sharing your food obsessions. I'm going to go check out your personal shopper site now.

And, by the way...lettuce pray?!!?!? You gotta be kidding me...

    Later, gator!

  15. " I want to run down to Little Italy and eat my way up to the Bronx!"

    HA! You GO, Rob!

OMG....I LOVE Mexican food as well (beans, rice, guacamole, etc). I'm sure God will forgive you though because that's why He created food, He WANTS you to enjoy it!

Isn't being Italian hilarious? I'm always reminded of the final scene in the movie, "Moonstruck" when the entire family is sitting around the table eating...and screaming. HA!

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a faaaaaabulous week!

Ah - a person after my own heart! I hate cooking, but I love good food. I'm vegetarian so love everything veggie. And yes to pizza! And I eat chocolate every day as it's so good for me... Love love this post!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Me too, Fiona, I'm vegetarian. And it's funny though, because I never actually made a conscious choice to become one, I just gradually found myself no longer desiring meat of any kind.

Isn't chocolate the BOMB? And you're right, it's (especially dark) very good for you!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend!
