It's been EONS since I shared a meme. In fact, I think in the entire 14 years that I've had this blog, I probably posted, maybe, two memes? I've never been a big meme-fan, however, I liked the 13 questions asked on this one, so I decided to post them.

I found these questions on a blog that I recently started following through the blog of one of my longtime blogging friends, Bijoux @ Bytes From The Burbs. The blog is called, Seaside Simplicity, which just so happens to be published by a fellow-Floridian. Her name is Martha and she's a delight. I instantly liked the vibe of her blog because she has a very strong community in which she is very involved. She's old-school blogging, which I love. If you get a chance, stop by her place and say hello.

---------------------------------------------------

Here are the 13 questions and my answers.

Hope you enjoy.

1. Morning or Night - Being that I'm a vampire, night is my favorite. However, I must say that over the past 3-4 years, I've gotten to really enjoy and appreciate early morning because I love the peace and quiet. On laundry day, I usually get up around 5:30 AM, make myself a cup of coffee, and then head downstairs to the laundry room. I'm usually the only tenant down there, so I can get two loads of laundry done in a little over an hour.

2. Coffee or Tea - Both. Coffee in the morning (black), and then either iced or hot green tea with spearmint in the afternoon, depending on the season.

3. Text or Call - Call, particularly if I'm going to have a conversation with someone. Texting definitely has its perks, such as using it for quick questions and responses. But that's it.

4. Small town or Big city - I think most of you already know my answer. I was born a city person. Where most people find the energy of a big city overwhelming, I find it invigorating and oddly enough, centering. I've lived in both New York City and Philadelphia. Even though Philly is the sixth largest city in the U.S., I personally don't consider it a "big" city. To me, it's more like a town, which is why I prefer New York - it's MASSIVE. One of the major things I like about living in a city is not needing a car. Yes, city apartment rentals can be pricier than in a small town, but I still save money because I don't have to fork it out for car payments, insurance, inspection, gas, and automobile upkeep. You don't realize how much money a car can eat until you don't have one. Having a car always felt like a monkey on my back. I thoroughly enjoy walking to where I need to go or taking public transportation whenever I need it. When you live in a city, that just naturally becomes a way of life.

5.Beer or Wine - Vino. And only a dry, full-bodied red. But I must admit, I do enjoy the smell of beer.

6. Messy or Tidy - I'm a Libra with a Virgo rising, so I would have to say anal-retentive tidy. Clutter of any kind makes me feel like I can't breathe. I've always lived in small studio apartments because they take no time at all to clean and keep tidy. I'm a minimalist, so a small space is perfect for me.

7. Introvert or Extrovert - I am most definitely an introvert, yet most people automatically assume I'm an extrovert. I like being around people at my job and being surrounded by people living in a city. However, in order to reenergize and regroup, I need my solitude, and that defines an introvert. I enjoy my own company. I love to spend time alone, taking long walks or sitting in a park under a tree just being quiet and reflective.

8. Cats or Dogs - I adore both for different reasons. Throughout my life, I've had dogs and cats (and many other animals) as pets because my beloved mother taught us to respect and enjoy all creatures. But I would have to say that as a "roommate", I migrate more towards a cat because they not only mellow me, but I like that they're low-maintenance and independent. One of my favorite things to do with a cat is to snuggle up and take a nap. I love to hear them purr. It instantly relaxes me.

9. English or Math - English. OMG, I hated Math in school. The closest I came to passing Math class was a D. But, most of the time it was an F. The only thing I wanted to know when learning Math were the basics - how to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and balance a checkbook. But other than that, I had no interest in algebra, geometry or calculus. Ewwwwwww!

10. Sweet or Savory - Savory. But I have to say that sometimes I like the two together, such as salty popcorn drizzled with dark chocolate. Yum-my!

11. Beach or Mountains - That's a hard call for me because I enjoy both. I used to live 2 1/2 miles from the beach in Boca, Florida and loved it. However, living back in the Northeast again, I have to say that I adore being close to the mountains (Upstate PA and NY). If someday I ever tire of city life, my ideal spot would be someplace like New England, Maine because you have both water and mountains. And being that my two favorite seasons are Autumn and Winter, a place like Maine would be ideal for me.

12. Predictability or Excitement - I'm the type of person who when taking a trip somewhere will plan it out with just a basic outline. And then once I get to my destination, I allow it to take me where I need to go. And this is why I don't like "tour group" vacations. I find them so boring. I'd much rather get there and travel free-style. I enjoy the excitement of allowing an experience to unravel before me. Some of my most memorable experiences have been by not knowing exactly where I'm going.

So, I would choose excitement rather than predictability.

13. Time machine or Magic wand - A  magic wand. Because if I had a magic wand, I could use it to not only manifest all sorts of things, but I could also use it to time travel, so I wouldn't need a time machine.

--------------------------------

Have a MAGICAL week, everyone! 💗

  1. Oh Ron, I really enjoyed reading your answers! I love answering questions and taking quizzes. Do your remember when they used to have those quizzes in Cosmopolitian magazine?

    -Morning or Night - Night.
-Coffee or Tea - Coffee with a splash of half and half.
-Text or Call - Text, for quickies. Call, for longies.
-Small town or Big city - I like living in a small town, and visiting a big city. But I don't think I could live in a city 24/7.
-Beer or Wine - Wine. Red preferably. But I do drink white in the summer.
-Messy or Tidy - Tidy. I'm OCD about being tidy, which is why I live alone. LOL!

    -Cats or Dogs - Dogs.
    -English or Math - English.
-Sweet or Savory - Sweet. I have such a sweet tooth!

  2. This is a good meme, Ron. And isn’t Martha so much fun? Here are my answers:
    1. I like to get things done in the morning so I can relax at night. So, I guess I’m a morning person, which is a big flip from the past.
    2. Coffee, specifically lattes is I’m drinking mostly these days.
    3. Texting, as I like to keep things short and sweet.
    4. Big city if my only other choice is rural. But, I really just like the suburbs. I’d love to be car-free though!
    5. Beer in summer, wine in winter!
    6. Tidy with zero clutter!
    7. This one always confuses me. I live to socialize so I’m going with extrovert.
    8. Dogs all the way, especially wiener dogs!
    9. I was better at English, but I do love Algebra.
    10. Sweet. There are few desserts I don’t like.
    11. Beach in winter, mountains in summer.
    12. Predictability
    13. Time machine so I can relive great moments from my past and see my grandparents again. I’d also love to spend a day with my kids as children again.

Hope you are having a good week! XO

  3. Why do these things always have to be one thing or another, always complete opposites? Human beings are complex enough to enjoy opposites equally, at least I do. I'm not much of an astrology person, so is being super neat, tidy, organized a Libra thing? (I'm a Libra, Gemini ascendant, Cancer moon) I know Virgos are supposed to be so, my father was a Virgo and lord knows that man was a neat/tidy/organized freak and my mother, a Libra was quite the opposite. (I wrote a post yesterday about my almost-obsessive need to be neat and organized) I'll take my little ambivert self off now...

  4. Hey there Candice!

OMG.....YES!!!!!...I most certainly DO remember those quizzes in Cosmopolitan! In fact, whenever I flew I would look for those magazines on the plane and take the quizzes while in flight. LOL!

No, I do not like tour groups because everything is timed, and sometimes you just want to hang out for a bit longer or investigate further.

"-Messy or Tidy - Tidy. I'm OCD about being tidy, which is why I live alone. LOL!"

HA! Loved your answer. Me too! That's why I've never had a roommate, other than a cat!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your answers, my friend. ENJOYED reading them!

  5. Yes, she sure is, and thank you so much for introducing me to her via your blog! And I agree, this a good meme!

LOVED reading your answers! I find it so interesting to know how other people think, feel, and see things differently. And I love that because if we were all the same, it would be so boring, wouldn't it? That's why there's choices!

I once had a friend in Florida who was a teacher and administered the Myers Briggs test, who told me that the difference between an introvert and an extrovert is how they reenergize and regroup -- if being around people does that for you, than you're an extrovert. However, if you're like me and reenergizes and regroups by being alone, than that makes me an introvert. I love to socialize with other people, but I need time away from them when I need to recharge.

"8. Dogs all the way, especially wiener dogs!"

HA! I love those dogs too! In fact, one of my friends in Orlando had a wiener dog who was named, SOS. He was sooooooooooo cute!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your answers, my friend. Hope you're having a good week too!

  6. "Why do these things always have to be one thing or another, always complete opposites? Human beings are complex enough to enjoy opposites equally, at least I do."

I know, and I agree. And if you noticed on quite a few of my answers, I equally enjoyed BOTH. Yet, I do find it so interesting to hear how some people feel either way because it shows how different we are, which I find cool.

" I'm not much of an astrology person, so is being super neat, tidy, organized a Libra thing? (I'm a Libra, Gemini ascendant, Cancer moon) I know Virgos are supposed to be so, my father was a Virgo and lord knows that man was a neat/tidy/organized freak and my mother, a Libra was quite the opposite."

It's funny because my mother, my father, and I were Libra's. And one of the many things we all had in common was how tidy we were. And having a Virgo (earth sign) rising makes me even more of a neat freak. You're a Libra (which is an air sign), with a Gemini rising (which is also an air sign), and you have your moon in Cancer (which is a water sign). So you have a lot of movement (air and water) in your astrology chart, which means you like change. And I do too! I get bored if I'm not constantly learning.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, I enjoyed them! I'll stop by sometime today and read your post, it sounds like something I would identify with!

I'm so glad you played along Ron, it was so much fun reading your answers! We have quite a few similarities. By the way, I'm a Virgo, don't know if there's really anything to it but I sure have to be neat and organized. I had one person who said her answers to every single question was both. I found that kind of fascinating, an easily adaptable person I suppose? On some I could see that but most I had a definitely preference. Have a fantastic day and thanks for the mention!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ron, I laughed at your English or Math answer!

    1. Morning or Night - I like both. Early morning and late at night. I love a good sunset and/or sunrise.
    2. Coffee or Tea - Coffee. I use French Press at home for my first cup of the day. And like you, black.
    3. Text or Call - Text.
    4. Small town or Big city - I live in a small town, but always wanted to try a big city.
    5. Beer or Wine - Beer,
    6. Messy or Tidy - Tidy.
    7. Introvert or Extrovert - Extrovert, I like to finish a busy week at work by hanging out with my friends on weekends.
    8. Cats or Dogs - Dogs.
    9. English or Math - Math. I love numbers.
    10. Sweet or Savory - Savory.
    11. Beach or Mountains - Mountains. I agree with you about New England.
    12. Predictability or Excitement - Excitement.
    13. Time machine or Magic wand - Magic Wand.

    Entertaining post, Ron!

  9. Ron, I'm reading this at work, so I'll come back later to answer these questions. Can't wait. Fun post!!!!! xo

  10. Hi Martha!

Meeeeeeeeeeee too! The second I saw this meme on your blog I knew I wanted to post the questions on my own blog. And yes, you and I do have quite a few similarities! Great minds, LOL!

OMG, you're a Virgo? It's funny because I had an astrologer once tell me that he thought that my sign was Virgo because of how particular I was when I would cut his hair. He used to be one of my clients. And when he offered to do my astrological chart for FREE, the next time he cam in for a haircut he presented the chart that he made for me, and lo and behold, my rising sign was VIRGO!

Me too. On some I said both, but on most I definitely had a preference.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. So glad we met! Have a great rest of your week!

  12. Hey there Daniel!

HA! I know, can you believe it? I honestly don't know how I ever graduated Math class because on most report cards, the teacher gave me an F. And I am so envious at your "love of numbers." That's awesome!

"2. Coffee or Tea - Coffee. I use French Press at home for my first cup of the day. And like you, black."

OMG, I have a French Press too!!! I don't use it all the time, but you just reminded me that I have to take it out of the cabinet so I remember to use it. I love how French Press coffee tastes -- strong!

I bet you would enjoy a big city. It's not for everyone, but I personally love city life. Particularly NYC.

I've never been to New England, but have watched travel documentaries and seen so many photographs, and it looks like a place I would adore. Especially in the Fall and Winter.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your answers, Daniel! Hope you're enjoying a FAB week!

  13. I do these occasionally on FB. I enjoyed your answers and pretty much guessed all your answers correctly! I do not like the taste of coffee, but love the smell! I text more than I should...especially when I really don't want to get sucked into a long conversation with someone. I live in organized chaos and have learned to embrace it. VINO!!!! I've never thought one should mix letters and numbers in math so I would fall into the English category. I like the way you split the difference between some of them. I would not be able to just pick one, depending on the circumstance. And....definitely a magic wand for the exact reason you mentioned!! This was fun. I also think you'd be great participating in the monthly photo challenge meme that I do. Hope your week is going well. X

    ReplyDelete
  14. What fun! Blogs used to be full of this type of quiz, but I haven't seen any in a while. I'm glad to learn more about you, Ron, and your readers. I'll answer just a few:
    1. Morning
    2. Tea
    6. Tidy (Virgo, don'cha know!)

    7. Introvert
    8. Dogs (cats scare me)

    9. English (numbers make my eyes glaze over!)
    11. Beach
    13. Magic wand

The ones I didn't answer are because I'm on the fence, ha! It kinda depends on the circumstances and the way I'm feeling at the time. Take Small town or Big city, for example -- I immediately see the benefits of each, and they're very different. Cities are so *alive* but small towns offer familiarity and closeness.

Enjoy the rest of your week, my friend! xx

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey there Lisa!

Bravo! You guess my answers! Woot! Woot!

I know other people who feel the same about coffee. It's like how I feel about beer. I don't like the taste, but I love the smell!

"I like the way you split the difference between some of them. I would not be able to just pick one, depending on the circumstance."

Thanks. But I know what you mean about not being able to just pick one because there were several on here that I had a challenge with. I liked BOTH.

"I also think you'd be great participating in the monthly photo challenge meme that I do."

I know, I really need to consider that. The only thing that causes me hesitation is that I fear there being some months when I wouldn't want to participate. But I'll think about it.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, my friend Hope you're having faaaaaaaabulous week! It's so dang hot and humid here. I am so over summer already. LOL!

  16. Helloooooooooooo there Debbie!

Yes, I know what you mean. Back in the earlier days of blogging, sfuff like this was very popular. It was a nice way to meet other bloggers.

    "6. Tidy (Virgo, don'cha know!)"

HA! I knew it....I knew it....I knew it!!! It's that Virgo in us that loves thing tidy.

The dog/cat thing was hard for me because I LOVE them both so much. But as a roommate, I would have to choose a cat because they balance my hyper energy. They make me calm.

"Take Small town or Big city, for example -- I immediately see the benefits of each, and they're very different. Cities are so *alive* but small towns offer familiarity and closeness."

I know, because I felt that way about several of these questions, and that's why I had to give two answers. And I think it all depends on where your at in your life. I may very well one day decide that I had enough of city life and move to a small town. Who knows.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by and sharing your answers, my friend. Enjoy the rest of your week too!

  17. Hey, Ron, what's going on?

I love your answers to these questions and I can see we agree on quite a few.

I do not miss having a car. It's amazing how people tell me that a car gives them a sense of freedom when they have to pay all those bills and find a place to park the damn thing!

And, oh, God, how I hated math. It was always my worst subject in school--and you can count on that!

Same here on the cats and dogs. I like them both because they are so different and I refuse to choose!

Love wine and I'm partial to big cities, as I've spent enough time in small towns.

Beach or mountains are a tough call for me, too. So give me that magic wand and I'll give my self a mountainous beach...or a beachy mountain...or a migraine...

I like how these questions make you think about the things you value. It gives you some good insights into yourself.

One thing, though, I am pretty bad with the clutter. Now if I can only remember where I put that wand...

  18. Okay Ron, I'm back with my answers. Here they are:

    1. Morning or Night - Night, night, night. I hate mornings! I'm not fully awake until 3 PM LOL!

    2. Coffee or Tea - I love coffee, but I try not to over do it. I have two cups a day. But whenever I'm sick with a cold, I love herbal tea because it feels so good on my throat.

    3. Text or Call - Text. And I like it because it's fast. I'm not a phone talker.

    4. Small town or Big city - Big city. I love the energy of a city. And like you said, you don't need car. I would love to not need one where I live.

5.Beer or Wine - Wine. And only red.

    6. Messy or Tidy - Tidy all the way!

    7. Introvert or Extrovert - Introvert.

    8. Cats or Dogs - Cats.

    9. English or Math - English. I never did well in Math either.

    10. Sweet or Savory - Savory. But salty popcorn drizzled with dark chocolate sound so deliciously decadent.

    11. Beach or Mountains - Beach.

    12. Predictability or Excitement - Predictability. I know, I'm boring.

    13. Time machine or Magic wand - Magic wand.

Ron, this was so much fun! You should do one of these every so often. Have a wonderful week! xo

  19. Hey there Rob!

"I do not miss having a car. It's amazing how people tell me that a car gives them a sense of freedom when they have to pay all those bills and find a place to park the damn thing!"

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's exactly what people say to me, and I'm like, "FREEDOM? Are you freaking kidding me?!?!" And I love how people say they OWN a car, when in fact, the BANK owns the car. HA!

Wasn't math the pits? Especially in Catholic school because they taught it boringly.

"Beach or mountains are a tough call for me, too. So give me that magic wand and I'll give my self a mountainous beach...or a beachy mountain...or a migraine..."

OMG, that made me laugh my ass off. TOO DAMN FUNNY!!!

Me too. They make you think about things you value. And I find it so interesting to read everyone's answers because some are the same, and others are different. And I like that.

"One thing, though, I am pretty bad with the clutter. Now if I can only remember where I put that wand..."

  20. Hola Denise!

I LOVED all you answers!!!! And thanks so much for stopping back to share them!

Your first one about night made me laugh because I tell people the same thing. I'm not fully awake until AFTER 12 PM.

I love herbal tea if I'm sick too. I have a wonderful ginger tea I drink when I have a cold. It's faaaabulous!

The happiest day of my life is when I sold my car before leaving Florida to move here. I felt so relieved!

OMG....you have GOT to try popcorn drizzled with dark chocolate, it's incredible. That's pretty much the only thing I eat when I get a sweet tooth.

No, you're not boring, some people simply prefer predictability. I know a lot of people who prefer that. There's a sense of peace and security in that.

Thanks again for stopping back and sharing your answers, I really appreciate that! Hope you're enjoying a terrific week!

  21. There is no commitment to the monthly photo challenge. I've skipped some months because I just couldn't get into the topic or was too busy to take time to do it. I've found it does help me to focus on looking at life through some different lenses. I hope to see you there someday. July's prompt is the very broad category of Happy.

  23. Cats, big city, wand. Yes indeed. And your description of a cat at your side, purring, eased my temperament right away. Peaceful, gratifying. Like you, I like solitude. And tho you said (In a 'round about way) you're a people person, I find in a huge city like NYC you can be surrounded by 100s and still be alone.

" And your description of a cat at your side, purring, eased my temperament right away. Peaceful, gratifying. "

Isn't that the BEST?!? I had two cats at one time and one of them (the male) loved to jump into bed with me at night and go under the covers and sleep right next to me. His purring put me to sleep every night. He was such a snuggle bunny!

" And tho you said (In a 'round about way) you're a people person, I find in a huge city like NYC you can be surrounded by 100s and still be alone."

Yes! Yes! Yes! You are absolutely correct about that. And THAT'S exactly why I love that city. It's the only place I know were you can be surrounded by TONS of people and yet, still be ALONE!

    2. Coffee or Tea - Coffee. Black.

    4. Small town or Big city - I live in a small town and enjoy it. But I could see myself in a big city one day.

OMG...I laughed my ass off at your morning or night response. That is priceless!

Yes, I can so see you living in a city. Your girlfriend as well. Being that the two of you are creative, I think you would love a city like NYC because it's just bursting with creative energy. And even if it wasn't NYC, I think you would like the vibe of city life. And yes, not needing a car is SUCH a plus. Like you said, it's a money pit.

Thank so much for stopping by and sharing your answers. I've really enjoyed reading how everyone thinks and feels about things. It's funny though because I think ever single person said that they would choose a magic wand rather than a time machine.

Hope you're having an excellent weekend, my friend!

  31. Ron, what a fun post. I haven't read Martha's blog, Simple Simplicity, but thanks for the shout out from Bijoux and yourself. Since I noticed fellow bloggers have jumped in with their replies, here are mine:

Morning or Night - both depending on the time of day: prefer early morning and late night
Coffee or Tea - both - coffee in a.m. and tea during the day
Small Town/Big City - small town to live; big city to visit
Beer/Wine - both depending on the food
Messy/Tidy - confess to being both
Introvert/Extravert - mainly introvert, enjoy spending alone time
Dogs/Cats - cats definitely for their independence
    English/Math - English (of course)
Savory/Sweet - savory, but enjoy sweet more then I should many times
Beach/Mountains - mountains - we live in New England
    Predictability/Excitement - depends
Time Machine/Magic Wand - wand (Harry Potter anyone?)

  32. Helloooooooooooooo again, D!

Thank you so much for leaving your responses to each of the questions. LOVED reading them all! It's been so interesting to read everyone's preferences because it shows you how different every one is on certain points, but then how similar people are too!

"Beach/Mountains - mountains - we live in New England"

YES! YES! YES! And as I mentioned, if I ever get tired of living in a city, New England is where my heart calls. There is something just so glorious about that area of the U.S. It's breathtaking!

HA! Loved your Harry Potter mention!

Thanks again for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

  33. I loved reading your answers! Mine are:
    1. Night, but like you I enjoy the morning peacefulness.
    2. Coffee. Black or milk and sugar. But I do drink green tea some.
    3. Text is convenient, a long phone call feels more connected.
    4. Small town. Or better, country!
    5. Wine if I absolutely had to choose. Mostly red, or champagne. But also, IPAs! And Bourbon!
    6. Tidy. I mean, I'm not perfect at it, but I sure hate clutter.
    7. Cats and Dogs. I can't choose.
    8. English. Absolutely. I had to take three graduate-level stats classes and HATED them.
    9. Sweet or Savory, but never mixed for me.
    10. Beach, if I had to pick. But I also really love the mountains. I like about Ireland and Iceland that you got dramatic cliffs and hillsides next to ocean.
11.Or for sure, excitement! I am like you - I have a basic plan when I travel but wan tot be able to decide on the fly.
    12. And also, definitely a magic wand!

Yes!!!!!! And Ireland is one of those places that I've always been drawn to. I love how green and lush it looks from the photos I've seem. And I also love how it's surrounded by water!
