In as much as I love and appreciate color (and specifically bright colors), I don’t have my apartment decorated with much of it, nor do I ever wear a lot of colorful clothing.
My studio apartment is decorated more in natural and earthy tones, and my clothing is practically all black (like an undertaker), with the exception of an occasion shirt in royal blue.
I find that if I’m around, or even wearing, an excessive amount of bright colors for too long, it’s overly stimulating.
Perhaps it’s because I’m a highly energetic person, that I like having the opposition of neutral and quieter tones surrounding me on a day to day basis, as a means of balancing my personality.
Yeah, I know that sounds very “psychoanalysis” but I think that different colors affect people differently.
One of my dear and longtime blogging friends, Linda @ A Country Woman Who Paints, is just the opposite of me. She revels in color and shares it through her AWESOME artwork on her blog. She is an extremely gifted and talented lady; expressing herself through every stroke of an art brush. The cool thing about Linda's artwork is that it's both boldly bright, yet at the same time...soft. And what is truly inspiring is that she uses her art as a personal means of transformation and healing. For her, art and color are two of the tools she uses to explore and express her life’s journey.
So today, I would like to dedicate this post to Linda, in celebrating color. Because through knowing her, I have learned how powerful the use of color can be.
