If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you’ve obviously read countless posts throughout the years in which I've BITCHED and MOANED about summer, and how much I wished I could take some sort of sleeping pill that would enable me to sleep from June until September, when autumn begins to show itself.

Just like a bear, who hibernates during the winter months.

The main reason why I moved from Florida back to the northeast twelve years ago, was because at 45-years old I went through male menopause (known as MANopause) and could no longer tolerate the predominate heat and humidity, which started to cause my body pain.

I know this sounds odd, but I can handle being extremely cold, yet cannot handle being extremely hot for long periods. So I knew it was time to return to a more diverse climate, where I would only have to deal with heat for three months. But even those three months were sheer torture for me.

Yet, since flying back to Florida last July to visit my family, my adaption to summer has drastically changed. I don’t whether it’s that, or that my hormones are leveling out and the summer heat is just not bothering me as much as it used to.

It’s probably a little bit of both.

And no, I’m not thinking of moving back to the Gold Coast and getting certified as a lifeguard on South Beach, because I cherish the change of seasons too much. It’s just that spending those two weeks last year in the Sunshine State, made me rediscover the joy of summer.

For the past two summers, instead of resisting, I embraced and got into them. And I can’t tell you how much that made me enjoy them more, instead of moaning about it.

I spent more time outdoors, which is the opposite of what I normally do during summer; staying indoors, like Count Dracula.

I sat in the sun and tanned; I took two trips to NYC; I ate Italian water ice and fresh produce; I looked at all the sexy men in their tank tops and shorts, exposing more of their arms, legs, and the outline of their BUTT.

(Ooops!…sorry to let that last one slip out, butt I got carried away)

*It should be noted here that I’m a BUTT watcher, as well as LEGS*

Yes, I enjoyed this summer to the point where it appeared to fly by when I wasn't looking.

And I'll even go so far as to say that I feel a bit melancholy that it's over.

Sure, we had some HORRENDOUS heat waves, but they didn't last long. And much of August was actually on the cooler side.

Anyway, the whole reason I’m sharing this post is to say YAHOO to the season of summer, because I’ve learned to appreciate you again.

So, as I gradually put away my tank tops, flip-flops, suntan lotion, and BINOCULARS.

I say adieu, summer!

And look forward to seeing you next year…

But I want to quickly add here, just in case you get the wrong idea, thinking I've totally lost my mind and changed completely, I can't WAIT for autumn and WINTER.

And LOTS and LOTS of this stuff…

Bring it on, baby!

Happy Monday y’all!

*Yes I know, most people DREAD the cold, the snow, and winter, so feel free to tell me how sick and demented I am in your comments...X
