My inspiration for this post came from my dear, longtime blogging friend, Debbie @ Musings by an ND Domer's Mom, who is not only a gifted...
Have you ever bought an article of clothing that you thought you were going to enjoy, but then ended up hating it because it just didn’t feel right whenever you wore it? And every time you put it on you think to yourself, "WHY IN GOD'S NAME DID I EVER BUY THIS!?!?"
About six years ago, I bought a black leather jacket on sale because the store was going out of business and they had only one jacket left in my size. It was originally $175.00 marked down to $99.00. I tried it on in the store and initially thought it felt great on my body, but then after wearing it a couple of times, something just didn’t feel right.
First of all the leather itself is very STIFF, but I assumed that after wearing it for a season it would soften up.
NOT!
I don't think if I laid that jacket out on the city streets during a severe hail storm and then used a meat tenderizer on it, would it EVER soften up.
Even after SIX years, it still feels as if I’m wearing the Tin Man suit from the Wizard of Oz...
I can barely move my arms and torso without feeling the need to apply a few squirts of WD-40 Oil to loosen up my joints so I can move in it...
And another thing I hate about this leather jacket is that it weighs about FIFTY pounds because it has a thermal liner that you can zip in during the colder winter months. But even without the liner it still weighs FORTY pounds. Earlier this winter I handed the jacket to someone at work, just so they could feel the weight of it. And after they almost fell over face front onto the floor, they said, "Damn...this jacket is HEAVY!"
I swear, every time I put the jacket on it feels like I’m wearing one of those dental aprons they use at the dentist office whenever you get X-rays…
Here are photographs of the leather jacket and liner.
I don’t know why I’m sharing this post with you, other than a few days ago I was wearing this leather jacket and one of the cashiers at the drug store complimented me on how much he loved it by saying, “Oh…I love that leather jacket you have on. It’s so nice-looking!”
Whereupon I smiled politely and said, “Thank you, would you like it? Because I HATE this FRIGGIN' thing and I wish I NEVER bought it!"
Have a maaaaahvelous Monday y'all!
