I know I may be in the minority on this, but I have always loved the look of someone wearing glasses.

I find glasses both attractive and even sexy. Yes...sexy.

I don't know how it is in schools today, but I grew up in the decade of the '60's, when kids who wore glasses were stereotyped as nerds.

And some kids were even teased and called "four-eyes." Yes, kids can be cruel. And me, being someone who was also teased in school for other things, I knew how they felt so I didn't do that. Besides, I didn't see anything abnormal about people who wore glasses.

For some reason though, wearing glasses back then had a stigma attached to it.

In the '70's, when hard contact lenses first came out, you began to see less and less people wearing glasses and happy to be rid of them. Yet, not everyone could wear contacts.

Then something changed in the '80's, glasses became a style statement and part of a "look", where even if you didn't need glasses you could buy them with clear lenses and wear them to complement an outfit. They were called "faux" glasses. In fact, I bought several pairs with different frames so that I could wear them with my outfits whenever I went out to nightclubs. Suddenly I was able to wear glasses too!

Then in the '90's, glasses were no longer called glasses, they were referred to as "vision wear." Glasses were being made in so many fabulous styles that they became a fashionable eye accessory. And the choices were endless.

Now, with laser surgery being an option, more and more people are getting away from glasses again. But I think it's more out of convenience than a stigma.

Yes, a lot has changed in our perception about glasses over the many decades. People who wear glasses are now CHIC.

But to me, they have always been chic.
